Jenine Ferrari

Jenine Ferrari is a passionate advocate for residents and Veterans in long-term care and their families. As the former Family Council Liaison for the Long Term Care Community Coalition’s Family Council Empowerment Team, she worked to form, build, and sustain Family Councils across the United States in collaboration with state and local Ombudsmen, families, friends, and advocates.

Family Councils serve as vital advocates within long-term care homes, giving families a collective voice to drive meaningful improvements in residents’ quality of life. Jenine’s work has centered on empowering families to exercise their rights under federal regulations, which affirm their ability to organize, support one another, and participate in shaping care policies and practices.

Jenine co-founded the Family Council at The New York State Veterans Home at Montrose in 2020 and which is still going strong. This Family Council worked with the nursing home’s administration to make change and improve the quality of life for the 200+ residents, including her father, a proud Marine who lived at Montrose for 8 years. She will forever champion the expansion and effectiveness of Family Councils nationwide and still works with Family Councils who contact her for advice and acumen.

Jenine recently joined the Coalition for Institutionalized Aged and Disabled as a Resident Advocate. She works with residents in Adult Care Homes to train and empower them to advocate for themselves and the best quality of life possible.
