In collaboration with Art Against Ageism (AAA), please join us for a dynamic discussion about ageist and ableist policies and structures within long-term care in the United States and how films such as “No Country for Old People” help to expose their damaging impact.
AAA Co-Founder and Gray Panthers NYC Board Member Meg LaPorte will moderate a dynamic discussion with filmmaker Susie Singer Carter, along with National Association of Health Care Assistants’ Board Chair, Sherry Perry, and its CEO, Lori Porter.
We will examine the creative process behind Singer Carter’s documentary, which reveals both hidden and obvious ageism and ableism in institutional eldercare. In addition, Perry and Porter will discuss the realities of direct care in nursing homes and similar settings and how this work is affected by age and ability biases.
